# TranscriptX terminology index (non-authoritative)

This document is an **index of terms only**. It aggregates terminology from the authoritative CONTRACT documents and points back to them.

- It **must not** introduce new semantics or rules.
- If any wording here appears to conflict with a CONTRACT document, the **CONTRACT document wins**.

Where you need the actual definition or invariant, always read the linked CONTRACT section.

## Terms and authorities

- **Canonical transcript**

- **Managed transcript**  
  - See storage contract: `docs/runtime/STORAGE.md` (managed transcript and metadata layout).

- **Library-valid transcript**  
  - See storage contract: `docs/runtime/STORAGE.md` (canonical + sidecars + archival/original linkage).

- **Sidecar**  
  - See storage contract: `docs/runtime/STORAGE.md` (metadata mirroring invariant and sidecar paths).

- **Metadata subtree**  
  - See storage contract: `docs/runtime/STORAGE.md` (metadata subtree layout and helpers).

- **Staging vs canonical storage**  
  - See storage contract: `docs/runtime/STORAGE.md` (imports/ staging semantics and canonical storage model).

- **Run outcome / execution truth**  
  - See run outcome contract: `docs/run_outcome_contract.md`.

- **Outputs and run artifacts**

- **Public surface / supported surface**

- **Install profile** (`core` \| `full`)  
  - Capability / dependency story — not module presets. See `docs/runtime/installation-advanced.md` and `docs/dev/install_profiles_matrix.md`.

- **Module / workflow profile**  
  - Named JSON under `{config_dir}/profiles/<target>/`. See `docs/runtime/settings.md` and `docs/runtime/STORAGE.md`.

- **Analysis UI preset** (Quick / Balanced / Thorough)  
  - Module-set policies for Run Analysis. See `docs/runtime/settings.md`.

- **Speaker profile**  
  - Longitudinal identity / voice store (separate from analysis knobs). See `docs/contracts/speaker_profiles_v1.md` and `docs/contracts/speaker_profiles_voice_v1.md`.

- **Auto-name / auto-link**  
  - Orthogonal ingest knobs that may write speaker-map display names and/or `auto_identified` profile links after admit. See `docs/contracts/speaker_profiles_voice_v1.md`. Operator guide: `docs/runtime/auto-identify.md`.

- **auto_identified**  
  - `link_method` (and speaker-map mapping method) for fusion-applied ingest. Trust maps like `suggestion_assisted` until promote. See `docs/contracts/speaker_profiles_voice_v1.md`.

- **Speaker-map sidecar**  
  - Per-transcript display names / ignore lists under `transcripts/metadata/speaker_maps/`. See `docs/runtime/STORAGE.md` and `docs/contracts/speaker_profiles_v1.md`.

This index may grow as new terms are introduced in CONTRACT docs, but each term here must always **delegate meaning** to those documents rather than redefining it.
