# Application for Paralegal ([Freehills](https://www.hsfkramer.com))

A friend of mine, Noni Austin, who currently works at Freehills, recommended that I apply for a paralegal position.

I completed my undergraduate degree in law in June 2010 and am now studying a Masters of Law degree at the University of New South Wales.

Presently I am in Australia on a student visa, allowing me to work up to 20 hours per week. However, my partner is Australian and we are currently in the process of applying for a de facto marriage visa, which would enable me to reside and work in Australia. It is my intention to settle with my partner in Australia.

Previously I have completed two mini-pupilages and a two-week placement shadowing a UK Crown Court Judge. I worked as a Student Attorney in the capital punishment clinic at the University of Texas and have consistently excelled at legal research. I have also volunteered as a researcher for the Activist Legal Project and have recently taken up a volunteer position at Amnesty International Australia.

I am hard working, diligent and able to learn quickly. I am able to communicate with a range of people and am always keen to take on new challenges. Furthermore, while I am confident using my own initiative to work effectively, I am also not averse to asking questions when I am unsure of the way forward.

My availability is very flexible as classes for my degree take place in the evening, allowing me to work during the day. I am also flexible as to the area of law I would like to work in. I have found all areas of the law to be of interest to me and am mostly looking to gain hands-on practical experience.
