Call for Applications: Research Consultancy on European Climate and Energy Policy With the European Chair for Sustainable Development ### and Climate Transition, Sciences Po - Location: Remote (must be based in Europe) - Contract Type: Short-term consultancy (deliverables-based) - Duration: Until December 2026 - Application Deadline: Thursday, 30 July 2026 ### About the Chair The European Chair for Sustainable Development and Climate Transition (the Chair) was launched in November 2020 and is co-hosted by the School of Public Affairs and the Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences Po. Our mission is to study implementation pathways for sustainable policies and the climate transition in Europe and globally, and to support the EU's ambitious objectives, such as the European Green Deal and Clean Industrial Deal. The Chair is committed to establishing a broad network of actors who will contribute to research, education, and discussions on important topics such as just transition, climate mitigation and adaptation, energy transition, and green finance. The Chair is funded by Hermès International, HSBC, and the European Investment Bank (EIB). Further information on the Chair can be found here. Context To support its research agenda on European energy and climate transition, the Chair is seeking proposals from an independent researcher to contribute to publications carried out under the auspices of the Chair, in line with the scope of the mission outlined below. Please note that this is a short-term, deliverables-based consultancy and not a salaried position. The consultant will be expected to operate as an independent contractor, issuing invoices for their work and managing any applicable taxes or social contributions. ### Scope of the mission The Research Consultant will be engaged for the following deliverables under this consultancy: Preparation and submission of at least two co-authored papers intended for peer-reviewed publication, on topics relating to European clean-transition policies. These will be based on desk research, including qualitative and/or quantitative analysis, and may include stakeholder interviews. The Research Consultant should demonstrate a strong knowledge of the European Green Deal and the current shift to the Clean Industrial Deal. The consultant agrees not to publish or disseminate the work independently without prior written permission. ### Possible continuation of the assignment The present call concerns only the scope, deliverables, period, and budget described above. However, subject to the consultant’s satisfactory performance, the Chair’s evolving needs, the availability of additional funding, and compliance with Sciences Po’s applicable procurement procedures, Sciences Po may propose additional or complementary assignments to the selected consultant. Any such continuation would be subject to a separate written agreement and is neither guaranteed nor included in the initial budget. 2
