First aid kit for ocean communications launched
A new framing guide and research report aims to help science communicators bridge the gap between expert and public understanding of marine conservation issues. Suggestions include using health and body metaphors to convey the role the ocean plays in our planet’s ecosystems!​

Is our ocean losing its breath?
A new report on the effects ocean deoxygenation emphasises the need to address climate and ocean issues together. E.g. Ending overfishing “would strengthen the ocean, making it more capable of withstanding climate change and restoring marine ecosystems – and it can be done now”, says Dr Rashid Sumalia.

Hope amongst the tipping points
A new report in Nature has warned of likely climate change tipping points, including that of the ocean’s circulatory system, the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). However, there are social tipping points too, and a new report in National Geographic argues that net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 is an achievable and affordable goal.
