It's been a while! A quick note from the editor
This is the first newsletter in 2021! After the fatigue of 2020, I have unfortunately not been able to muster much energy for side projects. It seems that others are feeling the same, as nobody has signed up to curate the newsletter so far this year. Not to worry, I'll keep the project on the backburner, but as the primary purpose of the Letter is to provide a platform for young ocean leaders, there won't be so many editions in the coming months. If you want to write an edition, please feel free to sign up here.

Ocean update
- The new head of the World Trade Organization is pushing for members to wrap up the decades-long negotiations on the elimination of harmful fisheries subsidies.
- The Sargasso Sea Commission has netted $3 million for projects aiming to protect the floating golden rainforest of the Atlantic.
